Update - September 22, 2020 - Continuation of Video Conference Mediation. We have now successfully conducted over 140 remote video mediations. With the continuing pandemic restrictions on live meetings in office settings, and the majority preference to continue with “mediation by video” in lieu of “mediation with masks”, we anticipate continuing remote mediations until further notice.

DocuSign

Remote signatures for remote mediations
with DocuSign!

Accord ADR Group has adopted DocuSign as our electronic signature tool. Using DocuSign, we can obtain valid, binding signatures on Settlement Memoranda in real-time, whether participants are in the same room or all across the globe. It is fast, easy, and, most importantly, fully enforceable.

After drafting, reviewing, and obtaining counsel's approval of the terms of a Settlement Memo, we send an email through DocuSign to the mediation participants.  DocuSign allows the participants  to click "Review Document" and then to click "Sign", which opens a new window with the signer's name in digital signature format with a secure, randomly generated numeric code embedded. The signer simply "adopts" the signature, "drags and drops" it to the appropriate line on the document, and clicks "Finish."

Once all parties sign, DocuSign sends a fully executed PDF to the mediator and to all signatories. "Counterpart" signatures are no longer necessary.
