In 2021, he was named to the prestigious National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He has over 40 years of experience in litigating, mediating, arbitrating and trying all forms of complex tort, professional liability, and insurance law disputes.

Doug offers mediation and other ADR services, online via videoconference, throughout Colorado and the Mountain West.
He began his practice in Denver in 1981, and built an expertise in insurance coverage litigation, professional liability, nursing home and assisted living matters, and construction litigation. Most recently, he was a Regional Attorney for a Fortune 100 multi-lines insurer, overseeing defense trial offices in six states throughout the West, in addition to maintaining his Colorado practice.
Mr. McQuiston is a 1981 graduate of the University of Colorado Law School where he also served as an Editor of the Law Review. He is a member of the Colorado, Denver, and Boulder County Bar Associations, where he is active in several Bar Association Committees. He is a past member of the Colorado Bar Association Ethics Committee, past Vice President of the Denver Bar Association, and two term Delegate to the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors.
Mr. McQuiston has written and presented seminars and CLE sessions nationally on a broad array of topics including professionalism, dispute resolution, professional liability, law office technological management, Medicare Secondary Payor liability, trial tactics, insurance issues, and persuasive legal writing.
In his free time, Doug enjoys being with his family, skiing (both downhill and backcountry), bicycling, hiking, traveling, and playing the bagpipes.
